Send invoices customers can pay online

You can send invoices that customers pay online by card or bank. Each invoice is numbered, emailed to the customer with a payment page and a PDF, and tracked in your app. Invoicing is included on every plan.

Add the invoices page

  1. Open Tools in the sidebar and choose Finance.
  2. Open the Invoices tab.
  3. On the "Your invoices" card, click Add to my app.

An Invoices page is added to your app and opens. From then on, open it from the sidebar. The page is yours to change. Ask the assistant if you want a different layout or extra fields.

You need a connected payment account before you can send an invoice. See Set up payments.

Create an invoice

  1. On the Invoices page, click New invoice.
  2. Pick the customer, or choose Someone new… and enter a name and email. An invoice needs an email address to be sent.
  3. Add the line items. Each has a description, a quantity and an amount. Click Add line for more.
  4. Set how many days the customer has to pay under Due in (days).
  5. Add a memo if you want one. It is shown on the invoice.
  6. Click Create & send to send it now, or Save draft to finish it later.

What the customer gets

The customer receives the invoice by email with a link to a payment page, where they pay by card, bank or wallet. The money goes to your payment account and reaches your bank with your normal payouts. Payment reminders, the PDF and the invoice number are handled for you.

Keep track

The Invoices page lists your invoices. Use the filters at the top to narrow the list by status. An invoice that is still open after its due date is shown as overdue.

For each invoice you can:

Fees

An invoice paid online carries the same transaction fee as a card payment. An invoice you mark as paid yourself has no fee, because no payment went through the payment account. See Payment fees.

Automate around invoices

Invoices can keep a row in one of your own tables in step, so the rest of your app knows what has been billed and paid. With that in place you can ask the assistant for automations such as "when a job is marked completed, create a draft invoice for the customer". Draft first, then check and send, until you trust the automation.
