Turn on two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication adds a second step when you sign in: a 6-digit code from an app on your phone. With it on, a stolen password is not enough to get into your account.
What you need
An authenticator app on your phone. Any app that produces 6-digit sign-in codes works, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or a password manager with that feature.
Turn it on
- In your app, click your picture at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Settings. It opens on Personal.
- Find the Security section.
- Next to Two-factor authentication, click Set up.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you cannot scan it, type in the key shown under the code instead.
- Enter the 6-digit code your authenticator app shows and click Turn On.
The setting now reads "On", and you are asked for a code each time you sign in.
You can reach the same settings from the Hub: click your picture at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Settings.
Sign in with two-factor on
Enter your email and password as usual. Then open your authenticator app and type the current code. Codes change every 30 seconds.
Turn it off
Go back to Settings, Personal, Security and click Turn off next to Two-factor authentication.
It is personal
Two-factor authentication protects your own sign-in. Each person on your team turns it on for themselves. It covers every workspace and app you belong to.
Change your password
In the same Security section you can set a new password. It must be at least 8 characters. Type it twice to confirm.
If you have forgotten your password, use Forgot password? on the sign-in page to get a reset email.
If you lose your phone
Without your authenticator app you cannot produce a code. Before you replace or reset a phone, move your authenticator to the new one, or turn two-factor off and set it up again on the new phone.
If you are locked out, open a ticket at unstack.us/help/contact from the email address on your account.
Other ways to keep your workspace safe
- Give people the lowest role that lets them do their job.
- Remove members who have left the company.
- Keep the owner role with someone who is active in the workspace.
