Add a point of sale register to your app

The register is a point of sale page you add to your app. Staff pick products, take cash or card, and each sale is saved as a record. It is included on every plan, including Free.

Add the register

  1. Open Tools in the sidebar and choose Finance.
  2. Open the Register tab.
  3. On the "Your register" card, click Add to my app.

The register is added as a page in your app and opens straight away. From then on, open it from the sidebar or with Open register on the same tab.

The page is yours. Ask the assistant to change the layout, the buttons or the receipt. The sale logic underneath, including tax, tips and the card reader, follows your settings and keeps working when you change how the page looks.

Tell it what you sell

A new register shows "The register isn't set up yet" until it knows which table holds your products. Tell the assistant, for example: "Set up the point of sale with my products table." The register then lists those products, and saves each sale to your sales table.

Register settings

On the Register tab, under Point of sale settings:

Click Save Settings when you are done.

Take a sale

  1. Search or tap products to add them to the cart. Change quantities in the cart.
  2. Optionally pick the customer. The default is a walk-in customer.
  3. Add a discount if discounts are allowed.
  4. Click Pay. In the Take payment window, choose Cash or Card.

Cash: enter the amount tendered. The register shows the change due and completes the sale.

Card: the sale is sent to your card reader. The customer picks a tip if you ask for one, then taps, inserts or swipes. Click Cancel to stop the reader and try again or take cash instead.

When the payment goes through you see "Sale complete", and New sale clears the register for the next customer.

Card payments need two things

Without a reader the register still works for cash sales.

Where sales go

Every sale is saved as a record, with the items, totals, tax, tip, payment method and the cashier. Because sales are ordinary records, you can build reports on them, or start an automation when a sale is made, for example to email a receipt or reduce stock.
