Notifications and the Inbox
Notifications tell you when something needs you: a mention, a direct message, an alert from an automation, or an agent waiting for a decision. They collect in your Inbox, and you choose how else they reach you.
The Inbox
Open the Inbox tab in the sidebar. A number on the tab shows how many items are waiting.
- Requests that need your approval are at the top.
- Notifications are listed below. Click one to read it in full.
- Switch to Unread to see only what you have not opened.
- Mark all read clears the count.
Where notifications come from
- Chat: mentions, direct messages, channel messages and huddles.
- Automations that send a notification as one of their steps.
- AI agents, when they finish something or need a decision.
- Your pages, when the builder has set them up to notify people.
Choose how you are notified
Open Settings, then Notifications. These are your personal preferences. They do not affect anyone else.
Each type of notification has two switches:
- In-App: it appears in your Inbox.
- Email: it is also sent to your email address.
The column headings switch a whole column on or off. If you turn everything off, a warning tells you that you will receive no notifications. Click Save Preferences when you are done.
Notification types appear in the list once your automations and pages start sending them, so a new app has a short list.
Notifications on your phone and computer
- iPhone app: notifications arrive as push notifications.
- Browser: allow notifications when Unstack asks, and they arrive even when the Unstack tab is closed.
- Desktop app: you get notifications from your computer and a badge on the Dock or taskbar.
A notification is sent by Unstack, not by an open page. So it reaches you whether or not you have the app open.
Remind me when something happens
If you want a reminder or an alert, such as "tell me when a job has been waiting more than two days", ask the builder for it. It sets up an automation that sends the notification. Automations are part of the Starter plan and up.
Too many notifications
- Turn off All channel messages and keep Mentions and Direct messages.
- Turn off Email for types you only need in the app.
