Connect Airtable, Google Sheets or Snowflake as a table
You can connect data that lives somewhere else and use it in your app as a table, without copying it. Airtable, Google Sheets, Snowflake and another Supabase project are supported.
What a connected table is
A connected table reads its records from the source each time, and for sources that allow it, writes back to the source too. It appears in your table list with a badge showing where it comes from. Its fields are synced from the source, so you change the structure in the source, not here.
Use a connected table when the data has to stay where it is. If you only want to bring data in once, import a CSV instead from Data & API, on the Import / Export tab.
Connect a source
- Open Tools in the sidebar and choose Data & API.
- On the Tables tab, click New Table.
- Under Connect a source, pick Airtable, Google Sheets, Snowflake or Supabase.
- Follow the steps for that source, described below.
- Tick the tables you want and click the connect button.
Airtable
Click Sign in with Airtable and approve access, then pick the base. If you prefer not to sign in, you can paste your base URL and a personal access token that has read and write access to the base.
Google Sheets
Click Sign in with Google and approve access, then pick the spreadsheet. Each sheet tab becomes its own table. You can also paste the spreadsheet URL with a Google Cloud API key (for a public sheet) or a service account token (for a private one).
Snowflake
Enter your account identifier, a token with access to the database, the database name and the warehouse. The schema is optional and is usually PUBLIC.
Supabase
Connect tables from another Supabase project to read and write its rows.
Use a connected table
A connected table sits in your table list next to your own tables. You can:
- Open it from the Tables tab to browse its records.
- Show it on an automatic table page in your app, where your team can view and edit the records.
Remove a connected table
Deleting a connected table from the Tables tab removes it from your app only. The data in Airtable, Google Sheets or Snowflake is not touched.
Good to know
- Because records are read from the source, a connected table is only as fast as the source and depends on it being reachable.
- If you rename a column in the source, pages and automations that use the old name need updating. Ask the assistant to fix them.
Plan
External data sources need the Starter plan or above.
